CLUB NOTES - 15th August 2017

Intermediate Championship

Easkey v Geevagh
After a slow start which saw Geevagh go 5 points up, Easkey finally got on the mark with a Kevin Duffy goal after great work from Emmet Healy. The goal ignited Easkey into life and with some great scores from Eugene Mullen, Joe McHugh, Mikey Gordon and Emmet Healy, it saw Easkey go into half time just 1 point in arrears. Easkey came out all guns blazing which saw 5 unanswered points from Joe McHugh (3), Ryan McKenna and Mikey Gordon to put Easkey up by 4. It was 15 mins into the 2nd half before Geevagh were to get their first score of the half but this started their own period of dominance scoring 3 points in a row before Easkey responded with a point from Emmet Healy. Geevagh's dominance continued scoring 5 unanswered points before a late goal from Jodie O'Reilly put Geevagh 6 clear. A second Kevin Duffy goal after a great ball from Jonathon Conway brought it back to a 3 point game but that would prove to be the last kick of the game; Geevagh the winners on a score line of 1-18 to 2-12.

In rd 1 of the A Championship, Easkey/Enniscrone-Kilglass and Ballymote/Bunninadden played out a good game last week, with our lads edging out winners 3-10 to 1-14. The rd 2 game v Molaise Gaels also proved to be an intriguing game on Monday night in Quigabar. Down at halftime, our lads came out blazing and to their credit, scored an unanswered 1-8 to bring us ahead. A couple of wides, a penalty and some bad luck saw us lose that lead, with Molaise Gaels winning 6-12 to 3-15.
