CLUB NOTES -19th July 2020

Senior Hurling

Easkey senior hurlers maintained their unbeaten run in the Dermot Molloy hurling league when they defeated Naomh Eoin on Saturday last in Kent Park. The final score was Easkey 3-14, Naomh Eoin 0-13. The sides traded points in the early stages of the match before Joe Mc Hugh scored two successive goals to give Easkey  a 2-4 to 0-3 lead. Andrew Kilcullen got Easkey's third goal shortly after. He was causing the Naomh Eoin defence a lot of problems. However, just before half time he was forced out of the game due to injury. Hayden Gilroy came on in his place. At half time Easkey led 3-8 to 0-7.
The second half was a more level affair with Naomh Eoin adding a number of points in the opening stages. Easkey finished strongly scoring the last four points. Cahan Hallinan got two points in the final minutes giving him a total of four from play.
Overall this was a good team performance from Easkey. Rory McHugh was excellent throughout. All the forwards scored from play and the defence worked well, restricting Naomh Eoin to only five points from play. The teams will shortly face each other in the first round of the championship.
