Easkey Sea Blues GAA Club
CLUB NOTES - 17th July 2019
Our Senior lads drew with Bunninadden last Sunday in extremely warm conditions out in Bunninadden Community Park. We were leading in injury time by a point but Bunninadden broke down the field and recorded a last gasp score to level the match. This was the last game of the league campaign and we finished 5th, level on points with neighbours St Farnans. A slightly disappointing finish to the league campaign but a lot of positives to take with us into championship. Our championship campaign starts with a tough test against Curry on the weekend of 27/28th July.
Our senior hurlers play local rivals Western Gaels this weekend in the Sligo Senior Hurling Championship. The game is fixed for Enniscrone at 7.30pm on Saturday. Best of luck to both players and management for the upcoming championship campaign.
U20 County Hurlers
Easkey were well represented on the Sligo u20 hurlers who were beaten by a strong Down team last weekend in the U20 B Hurling Championship. We had 5 hurlers involved, Eanna Moylan, Rory McHugh, Andrew and Niall Kilcullen and Daniel Rolston.
Our Easkey/Enniscrone minors lost to Ballymote/Bunninadden last week on a scoreline of 2-18 to 2-16. They play St Molaise Gaels next Thursday 25th July in Quigabar and 7.30 pm. Best of luck to players and management.
Our minor Easkey/St Farnans hurlers begin their championship campaign with a fixture against Benbulben Gaels, this Thursday 17th in Easkey at 7pm. Good luck for the campaign ahead.
The Easkey/St Farnans u16s get their championship campaign up and running with a fixture against Coolera/Strandhill down in Ransboro next Monday 22nd at 7.30. Best of luck to all involved.
A very busy weekend awaits for Easkey rounders, as they welcome Na Fianna from Dunlin and Clonbroney from Longford to Easkey this Saturday 20th July for a tournament. They will compete all the way from u11s up to senior age categories so please check out our Facebook or Twitter accounts for further details of this weekend’s action. 40 adults and 50 kids will be camping in Easkey Caravan Park from the respective teams so it promises to be a weekend to remember around the village. Best of luck to the organizers and all the competitors.
